T.I. and Wife Tiny Arrested on Drug Charges

Our top 10 wedding music videos list proves that matrimony is a universal, yet touchy, theme. While romance is widely accepted, so is the notion that rockers aren’t meant to settle down. Luckily our list features all sides of the marriage story, with looks at love, cheating, and even a circus wedding. Check out our video list, below.

‘Mine’
We’ll kick off our list of wedding music videos with the newest one. The video for Taylor Swift’s ‘Mine’ features the country star getting married to British actor Toby Hemingway. Tackling some adult issues, it follows the couple through a wild relationship. Interesting side note: Jaclyn Jarrett (the daughter of professional wrestler Jeff Jarrett) and Kyra Angle (daughter of professional wrestler Kurt Angle) also appear in the video.

Of the more than 100 designers showing spring/summer 2011 collections at Fashion Week, there are at least nine worth bookmarking — ’cause if your friends and co-workers aren’t raving about ‘em now, they will be soon. You see, this lot is fierce with a capital F and plenty of emphasis on the saaah. It includes a Halston trainee, a designer who has made dresses out of toilet paper, and creatives who already count Lady Gaga and Kate Moss among their fans. But don’t take our word for it: Click ahead to meet the nine designers yourself, see sketches and samples of their work, and be able to say with confidence that you knew them way back when.

Gretchen Wilson Answers Fan Questions

Filed under:

Gretchen Wilson is taking the lyrics of her recent single, ‘Work Hard, Play Harder,’ seriously. The Grammy-winning singer has been announced as the headliner for the second annual Jam for America. Held in Daytona Beach, Fla., on October 16, the line-up also includes former ‘American Idol‘ contestant Bucky Covington, country legend John Anderson, and brand-new duo the JaneDear Girls.

Proceeds from Jam for America will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, which assists severely wounded military personnel and their families. It’s a cause other country superstars, including Wynonna, Trace Adkins, Montgomery Gentry and John Conlee have all proudly supported.

Gretchen will also be performing for another charity later this month, when she joins Hank Williams Jr. and Lee Brice in a special Gulf Coast concert to help raise money for the tourism industry that has been adversely affected by the devastating oil spill. And while it may seem difficult to balance life as a singer with her time-consuming roles as both a mom and record label owner, Gretchen says it’s important she finds time in her life for the things that matter the most.

It has been an argument for decades about the impact and significance of the fashion industry; those fashion “insiders” who delegate trends argue that their is much more to clothes, shoes and accessories than meets the eye. Others strongly disagree. In the wake of the Gulf Oil Spill, however, the fashion establishment are working overtime to expel what they have been saying for years: that fashion speaks of the times, gains inspiration from current events and world tragedies and garners attention for pressing issues. And you know what, maybe the world is staring to believe them. Or at the very least, I am.
First it was Italian Vogue who, with their “Water & Oil” editorial featuring an oil splattered Kristin McMenamy, garnered widespread criticism about whether it was a glamorization of the tragedy or a savvy sartorial attack on BP. Most agree with the later approach, but either way it got people talking and the attention back on the recovery efforts in the region. Now on the menswear front, design label Bed Stu have made a strong statement with their latest footwear collection, appropriately titled Gulf Coast Cleanup. Names aside, the battered shoes speak for themselves. And their effort on cleaning up the mess left in the Gulf of Mexico isn’t without validity; 100 percent of the profit from the sales of the Gulf Coast Cleanup collection will go towards the restoration of wildlife in the region. See, fashion does make an impact.
But in reality it always has, or at least attempted to. Take the deep economic recession, for a recent example. Once the powers-that-be like Anna Wintour realized the mass impact that the recession had on the fashion industry, and New York City as a whole, she teamed with Mayor Bloomberg for what is Fashion’s Night Out – a celebration of the retail industry set to get buyers out shopping and spending money again. It was such a success the first go ’round that it’s back again this year.
It really is a complex thing though, getting people to look at an industry so bent on superficiality in a way that speaks of it’s power, impact, and prestige in our society. And we can rest assure that the argument will continue to spur on for decades to come, whether or not fashion really is this significant entity or simply . . . clothes. At this point, all we can really do is buy a pair of shoes from Bed Stu knowing that we’ve done our part in the cleanup of the Gulf Coast. Oh yeah, and that we have a pair of oil stained loafers on the way.
The collection will be available in November 2010.

>> J.Mendel Scores Investment to Fuel Expansion -Until now,  J.Mendel has been a independent, family-run business, but Gilles Mendel, the fifth generation designer for the brand, has just lined up an undisclosed, significant investment by Los Angeles equity firm The Gores Group. As part of the deal, Mendel, who describes his new role as “a substantial shareholder,” will remain the CEO and chief designer of the brand, and the investment will allow J.Mendel to continue expansion from its original iteration as a French fur house. In addition to the label’s current offering of fur, evening gowns, and cocktail dresses, Mendel is considering categories like fur accessories, luxury outerwear, knitwear, suits, tops, daytime dresses, knitwear, as well as leather accessories, eyewear, and footwear. Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis share their philosophy on male friendships.

As a rule, romantic comedies generally follow a pretty standard formula: Boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love, boy and girl’s relationship is put to the test by brief bit of drama (overprotective potential in-laws, nosy friends, etc.), boy and girl live happily ever after. It’s typical and predictable, but also why we love rom-coms!

The latest entrant into the beloved genre is this week’s “Going the Distance,” starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long as a new couple who try to make their relationship work while living on opposite coasts. The film also features the comedic stylings of Charlie Day (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) and Jason Sudeikis (“Saturday Night Live”), who play a pair of buddies doing their best to keep their close friendship alive, while Long’s character tries to distance himself from his pals and make more time for his new romance.

When MTV News caught up with the two funnymen at the film’s press day, we asked them to compare and contrast the complicated aspects of real-life guy friendship, a.k.a. bromance, and romance — and whether the two can exist at the same time.

“Well, there’s a lot less sex in the bromance,” Day offered. “We’re bromancing each other, but we’re not bromancing each other in bed, so that’s different.”

Sudeikis admitted that sometimes you need to put the bromance on the back burner. “At some point, you have to let your friend go and your romance will trump the bromance,” he said. “You have to let the little bird fly out of the nest.”

“A romance and a bromance can happen at the same time — they’re not mutually exclusive,” Day added. “They can, they absolutely can. Sometimes people think that when the romance starts, the bromance ends, but that’s not true.”

This comment prompted Sudeikis to theorize that it’s a bad sign if the guy friends in question have a problem with their friend’s new love interest. “If the bromance really has a negative reaction to the romance, it’s probably not a healthy romance,” he said.

“There’s no reason a good romance can’t be perfectly bromantical,” Day added.

“Yeah,” Sudeikis agreed. “Not all squares are rectangles.”
“And not all rectangles are shapes,” Day said.

Joe Nichols is following his No.1 hit, ‘Gimmie That Girl,’ with the brand-new single, ‘The Shape I’m In.’ But more than just another tune, the Grammy-nominated singer is using the song as an opportunity to find out how his fans really feel. Joe recently launched a new website related to the song, and invites people of all ages to use the page to sound off on how life is for them by writing on virtual postcards that will be posted online.

“We came up with this idea as a great way to connect people to a larger community,” Joe explains (quote via Nashville.com). “Sometimes you just want to get something off your chest, or you want to get creative and have some fun. ‘The Shape I’m In’ website lets you do that — you’ll see your postcard alongside other people’s, and it’s all anonymous. I think this is something people will really like — whether you’re just reading other people’s reports on what shape they’re in, or you get involved and post your own.”

Beauty Pick-Me-Up: Anstasia of Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil

image I’m not a thin, perfectly arched eyebrow kind of girl… mostly because my borderline out of control hairy eyebrows don’t lend themselves to that shape naturally and put up quite a fight. I therefore find my eyebrow style inspiration in fellow full-browed ladies- Cindy Crawford, Brooke Shields, and up and coming model Bambi Northwood-Blyth (a personal fave). Their brows are bold and just a little unruly, the operative word being “little”. A “lot” unruly and things can go wrong on your face quickly! It’s been more than once that my boyfriend has laughed and pointed out that one of my eyebrows has gone a little amok, hairs pointing in directions they never should. I have definitely spent my fair share of time at Sephora testing the different brow taming tools out there. I’m not fussy when it comes to my makeup and need something that does the job with as little effort possible. Enter the Anastasia of Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil. Anastasia and her salon in Beverly Hills are famous for being the eyebrow experts, and her product line doesn’t disappoint. While clear brow gels (think clear mascara for your brows) are also great for keeping brows in place, this pencil is my favorite. It does double duty- a great silky pencil for filling in on one end and a brush for taming on the other. Watch out world! Now that I’ve perfected the brow tame, I’m pretty sure I can take on anything …

Interpol’s new video for ‘Barricade,’ the lead single from their forthcoming self-titled Sept. 7 release, uses the age-old secret of beautiful woman and re-purposed imagery.

Directed by Moh Azima, the video opens with the now Carlos D-less Interpol performing in front of rectangular-shaped backdrops that are meant to match their surroundings. Lead singer Paul Banks, however, gets to be projected onto shapely, near-nude womens bodies. We assume that these small surroundings and the limited space within which each band member is given to perform is some reference to the term barricade, but that’s merely a guess. Tell us what you think it means in the comment section below.
